The producers of the show have granted Spader an exit. Variety reports that Spader always intended for it to be a one season arc. It’s not yet known whether he’ll be written out this season or explained after-the-fact next fall.

Forbes is exclusively reporting that the creator will be abandoning his post as show runner due to reasons that include exhaustion. They also speculate that money could have something to do with it. He will be staying on the show in some capacity (I’d assume as EP).
